Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, and esteemed colleagues,

Good morning, and welcome to this remarkable gathering of cybersecurity professionals, where we set our sights on the future of cybersecurity in the next 10 years. It is a tremendous honour to stand before you today and welcome you to what promises to be an inspiring and enlightening BE-CYBER convention.

Let me begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude for your presence here. Your commitment to the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity is a testament to your dedication to securing the digital world. Each one of you plays an indispensable role in safeguarding our interconnected society, and it is this dedication that makes gatherings like this one so important.

As we embark on this journey together, there are several crucial messages I’d like to share with you:

First and foremost, let us acknowledge the ever-changing landscape of cybersecurity. Over the past few years, we have witnessed an exponential rise in cyber threats, ranging from sophisticated nation-state attacks to the rapid proliferation of ransomware. Our adversaries are agile, well-funded, and relentless. This convention is an opportunity to collectively face these challenges head-on.

Cybersecurity professionals like you are at the forefront of this battle. You are the guardians of digital fortresses, the defenders of data, and the protectors of privacy. Your expertise is the bedrock upon which the security of our digital world rests.

However, the importance of diversity and inclusion in the cybersecurity workforce cannot be overestimated. We need to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for cybersecurity professionals of all backgrounds.

Cyber security is a team sport. No single organization or individual can defend themselves against cyber threats alone. We need to work together to share information, develop new technologies, and coordinate our responses to cyber incidents.

As we convene here today, I urge each of you to engage, exchange ideas, and contribute to the collective wisdom that guides us forward. In this room, we hold the power to shape the future of cybersecurity.

Innovation has always been the driving force behind our progress, and that will remain true for the foreseeable future. The technologies we defend are evolving rapidly, and we must keep pace. What works today may not work tomorrow, and our ability to adapt and innovate will be paramount.

Emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and quantum computing, hold immense promise but also pose new challenges. They will reshape the threat landscape, presenting both opportunities and vulnerabilities that we must anticipate and address.

In our pursuit of cybersecurity, we must never lose sight of our ethical responsibilities. We not only protect data but also respect individual privacy rights. Let us always remember the importance of ethical conduct in our profession.

Continuous learning and training are non-negotiable. The pace of change demands it. I encourage each of you to invest in your own development, stay current with the latest trends, and nurture the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Cyber threats know no borders, and neither should our efforts to combat them. International cooperation and the sharing of threat intelligence are vital to our collective defence. Let’s continue to strengthen European and global partnerships.

Today, I challenge each of you to think about what the future of cybersecurity will look like in 10 years. This convention is an opportunity to explore innovative solutions, strategies, and frameworks that will shape our collective response to the evolving threat landscape.

I’d like to leave you with a sense of inspiration. Throughout our BE-CYBER convention, you will hear stories of cybersecurity professionals making a difference. Take these stories to heart, for they illustrate the impact we can have on the digital world’s security. Be inspired, and let this inspiration drive you in the days ahead.

In conclusion, I thank each and every one of you for your unwavering dedication to cybersecurity. Together, we can navigate the challenges of the digital age, protect the integrity of our systems, and ensure the safety of our digital society.

I encourage you to actively participate in discussions, network with your peers, and make the most of this convention. Let us return to our respective organizations with fresh insights and renewed determination to make the digital world safer.

Thank you for being part of this remarkable community, and I wish you a productive and inspiring convention ahead. Let’s shape the future of cybersecurity together.

Thank you.
